RE: Great Planes PT-17 Stearman
Hi Folks,
I too got this one for Christmas and I was very pleased with the high quality of workmanship on the airframe, however; the covering job left a lot to be desired. It was probaly the most wrinkled and loose covering of any ARF I have seen. I sent it back for a replacement which was a bit better, although I did have to spend about 3 hours ironing and blowing the covering to get out all of the wrinkles. It looks great now, but it's a real shame to come up short on the quality of the covering on such an otherwise good quality plane. I was thinking of stripping and recovering with Coverite fabric, but for now I will fly it like it is with an FS-120 non pumped four stroke and maybe recover at a later time.
