Default RE: U-Can-Do 3d 46?

Raideron,

I don't know everything, and I've said it before, but when you change the model you're flying, you have to change THINKING. Trainer thinking and flying is NOT 3D model thinking and flying, so, as a sort of preflight, you watch th ailerons and elevators--those thin things suddenly become THICK, LONG things in 3D birds--and think of the difference in what happens in the air with those control surfaces. Embed the difference in your head and HANDS. Suddenly, hopefully, you make the adjustments.

A dead stick landing will be different; how far up and away you go may be different; how low you fly may be different. It's like a switch you change in your head, then watch how the bird flies, the perspectives often change, and colors change. What's bottom look like? What does it look like coming at you and going away.

This is a different bird you're flying. For me the challenge is successfully changing birds--and making each bird perform to its capacities--and making landings as if I hadn't changed a thing. That's when you know you have it together--as an RC pilot. Not many full sized pilots can do the same, changing 5 birds in one day Most RATED pilots aren't that competent (remember speed over the fence, percent of flaps, stall speeds....)--because the complexities are impossible, or nearly so, but in RC we can do it--if we're good--and can change thinking and flying within minutes.

Best wishes for perfect landings, any model,

Jack
