.....also if it fails... how much for one turbine?
- Nasty, but ROFLMAO!!!!
I'll give the guy credit for trying it, but even a two minute flight time makes it impractical - unless you can "juice" an elephant.
And if you could get to 100 MPH, you still have to slow down = time and fuel... then, as you burn the fuel, you get lighter....so many things to think about - stability in windy conditions....is it self-stabilizing in calm conditions?
An "inescapable pinwheel" comes to mind. And losing one engine...God...what if you lost two? On the same side????? - Hello, trees! One on each side? - Hello, garden!...Pavement.....Garbage-truck - whatever.....
All the moving parts......why not Lockwood-Hiller Valveless jobs???? much simpler...
His hand control system, lack of any kind of crash/fire protection... even a tethered flight...for someone who replies so confidently to questions posted on ebay I don't think he's thought much about coming down period.
Is this guy REALLY going to try this himself???
And if it's publicized, will it have any impact on the turbine end of our hobby???
