MAJOR BUMMER!!
That's part of the reason I don't even bother loading the drivers for the HP card readers. Not only are they unreliable, they are PAINFULLY SLOW! (at least on my 7350) Now the USB connection on my Sony digi-cam isn't exactly lightning, but it is reliable. I also occasionally have similar problems with digital media in handheld devices. The bottom line is if it's important, back it up immediately.
