Tasesq, in addition to all the great advised here may I share with you Mr. Jerry Bates guide that also aided me in the pursuit of building from plans/kits which I think it's a great approach, because you get to know your plane intimately; by this I mean that you know precisely what is under every inch of covering and in the event of a mishap you know what and how to repair/replace the damage.
