Iron On Hinge
I use iron hinges on almost all of my planes, especially the big quarter scale size. I find them much more durable than any commercial hinge. I've made them from Monocote, Solartex, and most other iron on films. They are much more reliable than most if not all other types. I have two big planes (one a 17.5 pound Pheaton 90 with a Quadra 72 cc engine that is at least 12 years old with hundreds of flights on it) with iron on hinges with no failures. I've also crashed a few planes with this type of hinge and there was never a hinge failure where most everything else was destroyed. Use them with confidence and no slop, no gap, no friction will be your reward.
