Default CCPM is Different.

Mike:
Thanks so much for joining the RCU forums!
I, for one, have enjoyed all your writing these
years and particularly the very insightful post here again
on the CCPM issue. You are quite right about
the cyc/coll interaction. Please let me briefly share
my own experience with it. Coupla years back a
gentleman in PA sold me a Quick 30 Pro, metal frame
unit. I put an OS32 in it along with 9202's on the
3 point CCPM mix.
Having flown, Hirobo Shuttles, Nexi, and still own and
fly an Xcell ST, 3 raptor 30's (one an OS50!),
the cyclic 'feel' of the Quick pro was indeed different
than the rocking tray mechanism of Taya's wonderful design.
Although I am not an expert pilot by any means,
swash control definitely feels 'loose' or 'soft' on the Q30 when
compared to the direct collective pitch machines.
Your explaination of the non-linearity of the swash servos
really hits the nail on the head! The collective arc of servo
movement without a doubt interacts with cyclic control all
over the hovering and aerobatic pitch in differing amounts.
It takes a little getting used to, but it is viable to a degree.
I, for one, prefer the direct pitch setups and have decided
to put up a Raptor Sixty this winter, having looked at the
Fury, the Freya and even the Quick 60 Carbon.
Perhaps the advancement in electronics and our own
linear heli servo will KEEP the servo case at 40.4mm so that
retooling of the servo opening would be unnecessary
thus allowing CCPM to be utilized on these 'older' machines
with a heli-specific actuator! In the meantime, those of us
to love to fly these marvelous machines, now at the turn
of the century, can look forward to many more wonderful
advancements making our saturdays even more enjoyable!
Thanks again,
