Default Phoenix .40 Cap 232 Arf

I bought this ARF plane this summer, from "FAI - PHOENIX MODEL AIRCRAFT", made in vietnam. It is all wood, nicely built and covered, however the wood is quite heavy and tends to crack, not as good as balsa.

I was very happy with the way it flies, but I damaged the wing at the fifth flight. The engine quit at the end of a spin, and it happened too far from the landing strip. Since it is heavy, it went down quickly (not a good floater) and I had to land it in a rocky spot. I might build a replacement wing, and take the opportunity to make it much lighter. My .46 fx os cannot make it hover.

Anyway I was wondering if anyone had experience with this plane. Is it able to do 3D manoeuvers? Or is it too heavy? How about CG location, control throws... What engine? Also there is no room for foam around the fuel tank. I suspect this is why the engine does not work as nicely as it does on my other planes. Anyone managed to get the engine work with the tank as it is, with no foam?
