Sometimes it is hard to hear the shifts. Try driving your savage slow from start and try to listen for the 3 shifts. Engine tuning is also important. If the engine is not tuned properly it may never hit the RPM required for the transmission to shift to second. Also, check your slipper clutch. if it is set too loose the transmission may never see the RPM required to shift.
