Default Matching Servos To Plane Size (for a .10-.15 sized plane)

Hi Everyone,

I was just wondering about what sized servos should go with what sized airplanes. Is there a general guide as to how much torque a given plane size requires? (I know speed and control surface areas vary tremendously even within the same engine sized plane.)

For my small electrics and 1/2A planes (up to about a 0.061), I've been running 6gram, 1 KG torque micro servos with no problems.

For my .25 sized glow plane, the standard sized 3KG torque servos have been installed.

Two queries:-

First, for a .10-.15 sized plane, should I use standard servos, 12g/2.2KG torque servos, or will even the micro 6g servos be sufficient?

Second, are standard servos unecessary for 0.25 planes (sorry, worng forum?)? I have a .45 sized plane that uses the same servos - are the servo torque requirements similar? For my next plane, I was thinking that if I could use 2.2KG torque servos, I would save A LOT of weight, especially if I had a 5 servo setup. It would also let me think about putting in retracts without increasing the wing loading too much.

Thanks. Posted this on another forum but only got one response. Hoping to learn a little more here.
