If it where me, I would get a second servo and use the 601. There is no beating that Gyro. The 401 with the 9253 or 54 are a great combination as well. If you are just learning I would get the 401 combo and fly it. Save the 601 for a day when you want a better gyro for a second machine in a larger size.

What ever you do, do yourself a favor, only use a Futaba servo (9254 or 9253) with the 401. The pulse rate on the digital setting on that gyro and servo combo are matched and no other company produces a digital servo that can be ran in digital mode on the 401.

BTW what did you do to the servo to kill it? It it's a gear set they aren't to bad a price.
