Default RE: Who are you??

Ok, Well here's the CR story,
As a little tacker,(35 years ago, you do the math!!) I spent a few Xmas holidays watching a local nitro pilot called Eddie Edwards of Barwon Heads, Victoria, do his thing with his beautiful replica Tiger Moths and Spitfires. I also clearly remember his look of dismay as his latest pride & joy just kept on going & going on toward the horizon and was never found or seen again. I made a mental note to myself.....dont buy anything with wings, do find out what a failsafe does.... I had a few crappy battery operated toys over the years,

HOWEVER....My 9 y.o. petrol-head son Dane, came home from his Grandads 9 months ago and hit me with...... "Guess What? Grandad is going to give me his old nitro buggy, its got a real engine and everything!! He said you can help me to get it going and it only needs a bits"

Does that sound like a warning?....Anyway I didn't listen to any part of my mind or body and we became the proud(?) owners of a 20 year old Kyosho Stinger MkII. (Go and try and find some parts for that on eBay!!) So our first visit to the lhs cost me about $120 for a new fuel tank, some fuel and don't forget the "Starter Kit"!! Money well spent on finding out the Kyosho was going to be a bottomless pit of grief and money so I researched what i could about Nitro and even resisited the temptation to buy a Tyrannasomething from an honest ebayer in downtown China. I found an MT2 with the JT chassis here locally and picked the lot up for $200 (usd) So now I have spent the same replacing servo's, diff-cups and spurs whilst I learn the in & outs of 4wd Nitro. Dane and I have a lot of fun as he watches me rebuild it everytime I crash it!! He is a great little driver and we have just moved into an excellent house that has Monster Truck heaven at the end of the street. Gravel, grass, jumps and ashphalt and no people or cars!!
So guys, when I am not attending to the needs of Rock-Gods and Diva's or tuning guitars for some of Australia's finest guitarists or fluffing the costumes for my beautiful fiance's dancers, I'll be out in the double garage in "Monster Truck Central" (My half!!) with the new air compressor and MT2 apart, snorting WD-40 fumes and rebuilding whatever I just "had to pull apart to have a look"
It has been heartening to see there are so many of you out there that are prepared to give support and advice to us newbs (including kids like me)
So that's it. You didn't expect 2 lines now did you??
Cheers

Chris (CR to my friends)
