I talked with a local flying club and they too are old school gas heli flyers but with the new brushless and LiPo technology electric flight is catching on quickly. It is most likely to become more popular as conversion kits are now readily available. the person I talked to even admitted he converted one of his planes to electric and found it to be easier and a quicker setup with a very competitive performance ratio, also more innercity clubs are having to deal with noise restrictions which seem to be a problem with low altitude stunts. the impression I got from him was give it time and eflyers will become more accepted in the RC world.
