I just wonder what the heck is going on with all this carbon fiber stuff. Helicopter main frames have been made from it for many years, and you never heard of this delaminating/cracking problem- until a crash, of course.
I went straight to the TNT aluminum gear after my kit-supplied c/f gear CRACKED on the fifth (gentle) landing. Yes, it is heavy, compared to the c/f stuff. But that is the only air frame-related problem I've had with this plane, and I don't worry about that anymore.
I finally gave up on that OS 1.60; after over two months and $100 in pumps/regulators, trying to get the SOB to do right, I'm putting a BME 50 in my Extra.
But you know what? I'll wager large that when I put that 1.60 back on the test stand, with "normal" plumbing, it will run just fine- like it did when I broke it in.
I'm really looking forward to being able to FLY this model without worry. I actually have over 30 flights on it; but each one of those was an adventure, wondering what the powerplant was going to do next...[&o]
