Hi Jim,
IPD is a replacement technology for PCM. Multiplex were the first to introduce PCM tecnology and the first to move on. Synth means no crystals.
I think both JR and Futaba make Synth recievers now, but not IPD. Both are committed to PCM for the moment. Futaba have a 14 channel PCM system. This is quite clever since they have overcome one of the main obstacles with PCM tecnology which is the number of channels you can have. However it is hugely expensive, and I can expand my MPX 4000 to 18 channels, buy a second one and still have change.
