That's why I said he should consider "Fancy Test Stand" as a username.
8d or 10d nails? neither. He's very conservative, and naturally wants it to last forever. When he built it he had me get his fasteners, the nails are titanium 16d size, with a hex socket head and threaded shanks. He used his 380 gram hammer (that was speial order too) to start them, and then seated them with a Chicago Pneumatic model 725 air impact wrench.
