8 cell pack, charger only charging for 7

I just got an 8 cell, 750 Mah NiMH pack for my GWS spitfire, and I hooked it up to my E-flight peak detection charger. The pack takes a charge, but the cell count on the charger only goes up to seven. I tried to run the motor with the pack, and the esc shut it off after about two minutes of full to half throttle running. This was done on the ground to check for charge. My Charger automatically detects the number of cells, and it does it for all my other packs, but not for this one. Is it possible that the pack has a faulty cell? I tried to cycle it to bring it up, but it wouldn't go to 8 cells on the charger. Any Ideas?
