Gentleman,

Stupid question before I start hacking away on the firewall, the instruction manual says to space the engine 6 1/4 from the firewall. With cowling in place, mine is going to require a min of 6 3/4" Anybody else notice this?

Blue Skies & Fair Winds,

Rege,

I believe that what the instructions require is that your specific engine length (from spinner backplate hub to standoffs mount) , plus the standoffs length should come up to 6 1/4". I don't have my cowl (sent it back Tower for replacement) to measure. When I did measure it my engine only required 1" standoffs (5 1/4" engine length plus 1" to clear cowl front). What distance you get when you measure from the firewall to the cowl front edge? It should measure close to 6". Please let me know if it's different.
