Aeronaut Rafale / Faesability
Hi Guys,
At this point I ask purely out of interest. I fly turbine jets and IC DF, with a fair amount of experience on both (on my 4th jet now).
I saw a video of what I think was the Aeronaut Rafale a long time back and was very impressed with its performance. I am keen to see where the limits are here while being sensible (not prices of turbines). First of all, what is the airframe like (quality and performance)? Retracts?
They list that it can accomodate 26 cells (I think), and in the reading I have done, it shows that to get 20N out of a Wemotec MIDI fan, one needs 24 cells or so. I assume these are NiCd's? Of course the jet is twin fan - Hence my first question is if using Lipo's, is it possible to get the thrust I am looking for (20N per unit), and will there be enough room for enough Lipo's to supply this thrust for 2 motors?
Secondly, what motor is capable of producing the 20N thrust in the MIDI fan?
Further, is the jet capable of accomodating larger fans?
Hence is it possible to get close to a 1:1 thrust to weight ratio?
And what total price are we looking at?
Thanks,
Richard Wylie
