Glad to hear it's resolved. When you're soldering the new wire, be sure that you don't overheat the battery, it's possible to damage it. If some of the black wire is still there it might actually be better to splice the black wire than removing it from the battery. If you go this way, be sure to put some shrink wrap or tape on it as insulation.
