RE: TOC Aviation Fun Scale YAK Pro
ok,
I would like to know the size of the tank as well. I put the YS1.10FZ monster in this plane, one servo screw holding it for a balance check..right in the stock location it is perfect.
Battery movement will allow CG changes without a problem .
I did NOT use ANY of the linkage hardware. The geometry of the surfaces would not allow it, without letting the clevis bend and tweak. I made my own 440 carbon rods and balllinks all the way around. I used Du-bro horns that look exactly like the ones supplied, and through bolt-plated them.
I simply can't let wood screws hold the horns in.....that is insanity.
The geometry of the tail feathers stinks. THe cuts in the elevator are not deep enough, so the rudder horn MUST be cut down. THe servo bays do not put the hinge line and the servo center in the same line for the elevator. THe rudder bay was OK, but no way can you use a clevis, unless you are OK with it bending. I am not. Same for the ailerons. Ball links all the way.
THe fuse popped apart on the first assembly. The little bars that hold it on top , popped and the fuse bowed out, the wing fit distorted the fuse. All when first assembling it. It was a fight.
It did look like the weak point of the fuse is right at the trailing edge of the wing.....maybe some CF rods in the right place would stiffen it up. I am guessing that is where it would fail on a lading mishap. Maybe not , the canopy might stiffen it up .
I did cut away some of the back stab joint at the fuse for more travel , like previously mentioned...no-brainer.
The throttle servo is going to take some creativity, either cable, or goldenrod.
I added blasa over the front hole cutouts in front of the gas tank, and put fuel dots on one side and a JR Chage switch on the other. It is TIGHT up there. but it all fits.
Aside from fit issues, the tail feather linkage clearance and geometry, I like this plane. It is not too terrible to get perfect. The stock linkage is not throw-away, but it assumes you dont mind "fudging" it.
Bottom line it is nice ARF , with only a little obsessing over for someone like myself to get it near perfect.
My Setup will be:
YS 1.10 w/stock muffler
Tru turn spinner and 17x4W APC prop
Hangar 9 filters vent and fuel
Hangar 9 fuel dots..(2).
JR8411's in the tail.
TOWER Pro MG995 Ebay servos in the ailerons....(acid test for these, not permanent).
custom CF linkages with Dubro 440 ball links.
Dubro horns bolted through to thier plates.
HS 85mg on throttle.
JR 649 PCM 50MHZ 8 ch. receiver .
6V 2100 nimh, battery with JRCharge sw.
Stock tail wheel until it fails......although I think it will be fine.
stock LG and pants ...very nice pants. I will make a decision on CF gear after maiden.
This Proffy should WOW 'em at the field. I won't be kind to it, and will thrash it about like mad.
I will post pictures of my linkage, and setup before maiden.
