They simply are easier to take off straight with when there is a little headwind. The rudder is already steering and stabilizing the plane at zero ground speed when there is a headwind.

I agree with those who claim that sweet, ugly, or whatever sticks built as taildraggers are easy to take off and land, with their generous tail length and vertical fin area. It almost doesn't count as TD experience. A scale Cub is something else however.
