I ordered the muffler extension piece so that I could move my engine lower down so that it is more centered in the firewall can somebody tell me how to know where to postion the engine in the firewall because I am a newbie I do not know how to do it

Matt

This would be a mistake lowering the thrust line substancially will cause aggravated pitching up when power is applied, something that the downthrust angle is intended to minimise. There should be no need for a muffler header extension when the engine is mounted upright and at the thrustline indicated on the plans represented by that line drawn throught the crankshaft. Lowering this line lower below the vertical CG will always result in excessive pitch changes with power changes. This is more pronounced on high wing aircraft.
