Default FC 330L

The FC is the best precision 35% plane out there. For comparison I've flown just about everything except the Carden Edge. It tracks better than anything I've flown. It's very easy to roll. Snaps are like a 40% plane, just a little faster rotation.

It will do any 3D maneuver. It's easy to hover. Elevators have some wing rock to start, but it's easy to stop. Inverted elevator is more stable than upright. Harriers are easy. Waterfalls are easy and require little or no Correction. It's harder to TR than a Edge.

Overall the Edge is a little better 3D plane. The FC is a much better IMAC plane.

On your battery failure. I see people running separate receiver and servo batteries. I don't like this because you still have a single point failure. I run 1 receiver with 2 batteries and 2 switches or 2 receivers with a separate battery and switch. I have landed with one side out, switch failure, so it can help.
