Tom, this is something you should deal with. On a high speed plane, slop can lead to flutter, which could end up tearing the ailerons apart. Check the aileron linkages for slop and make the necessary changes before you fly.
I lost my first Shrike to flutter. Was on a high speed run across the runway when it started. From the first we heard to the flutter it took all of about 4-5 seconds before the plane was completely destroyed in flight. Nothing but pieces hitting the ground.
