If you want 3D then your only choice between the two is the Giles. If you are a little more adventurous, you can check out Da King's thread in 3D/Aerobatic forum about his modifications to attempt 3D with the Extra. I wish I could have flown a Giles to compare the two, but a friend of mine built the Giles and didn't like it that much. I am curious about the Giles wing construction, from what I hear it is a foolproof technique to building a perfect wing. But anyone with some modeling experience should be able to build an Extra wing with no problems. If I were to do it over again I'd still get the Extra.
