Default LT-40 Dihedral question???

I just bought an lt-40 as my first kit and have both wings built. I'm confused as to the directions when it comes to dihedral measurement. The directions say to set proper dihedral by measuring the left wing tip 3-3/4" off the ground. My question is, from what part of the tip do I measure this (front, side, rear?). I measured from the tip and it is 5-1/2 inches off the ground. I also measured from the end of the bottom of the trailing edge and it is 3-3/4" from the ground, but this dosn't seem right considering this is not the tip or is it considered the tip? Thanks in advance
