RE: First idle up setup
The ideal situation is to set the heli up mechanically for a 3d pitch curve from the start. 0 pitch at mid stick, +- 9 or 10, whatever you can get out of it.
Then setup your flight modes with your throttle curves from there.
All my throttle curves are +5 and +9 at the top so that when I switch from normal to idle up in a hover the helicopter doesnt jump like a jack rabbit.
If you want to fly 3D i suggest you get accustomed to 3/4 stick hovering but the choice is yours. Also some transmitters allow a programed delay so that the pitch and throttle servos smoothly transition to thier new positions after you flip the flight mode switch over a second or so and the jump is much less pronounced.
