AMA FLYING Sites

But what I noticed while I was there was no one wanted to take the time to talk to me. After leaving both of those clubs I thought maybe I'll just stick with the park, but the parks here that are flying friendly are getting fewer and fewer. I plan to check out two of the smaller clubs in hopes that they will be more to my liking.

Perhaps you were ignored because the persons there have a short amount of time for their sport along with the possibility (strong one) that they see a large number of people each weekend that "want to do RC", spend a lot of time talking and talking, then disappear into the sunset.
I would bet that if you asked where and when the club-meetings are held, who runs the membership committee, and/or just go read the bulletin board where all that info usually is. Then show up at the club meeting with an AMA card and cash-in-hand for dues, tell the club about yourself during the new member introduction time, and offer help on any committee that performs whatever your special talants are, and I will bet that before you know it, you will be having more conversationists around you than you want.
