RE: Walkera Dragonfly #36
Hey Larry, sorry to see you have crashed, bummer. but nice flying in that video. I'm still in a hovering state, scared as hell when it goes higher than 1 meter or 3 feet
the last crash i had also wrecked my landing gear, almost in the same way yours looks like.
I fixed it with some contact glue and than wrapped it with some duck tape, now there as good as new and even after a few hard bumps haven't come loos.
I will see if i can take a pic and post it.
also the attachment of the landing gear on the frame was broken and the battery compartment to that i fixed with some alluminium.
pics later on.
my shaft was bent but i tryed to straiten it again and it kind of worked, it still has a tiny bit of not strait but when it turns at full speed no problem.
i bought me an other shaft at lhs but this one is for a ZOOM400 , i measured and everything seems to be the same but i haven't put it in yet.
About the rpm of the headspeed i see here everywhere, 2200rpm is way to high for a helicopter.
there is a site i've found in Holland(sorry only in dutch) that explaines everything about helicopters and the is even a article about headspeed.
They say 1400 rpm is more than enough for a beginner, 1600 for an advanced and 1700 to 1800 for 3D flight. higher is useless and even dangerous.
so now I'm trying to lower my headspeed by increasing my pitch and it works, but the heli is a bit slower to respond to the input.
what i also noticed is that the motor and the battery are getting less hot than before.
Flying time i havent figured that out because of a bad battery, will get a new one soon.
