Default flat edge with flat performance !

i,ve got 4 flights on my flat edge 540 with gws 350c ( d gear ), 12/6 prop , eteck 2s 1200 lipos &gws ics 400e-j esc...uaw is 9.6 oz but the vertical sucks(wont hover!!)..retimed the gws 10 mil(didn,t use ammeter ) any one know what rpms i should get on this setup? how many amps should this combo draw at full throttle? any ideas why my setup is so anemic ?? bats at 8.2 v fresh off charge but last maybe 4-5 mins...going brushless on my next one but would like to get some decent flights on this plane & motor...any advice appreciated.. thanks rob m [email protected]

Rob, You might have just got a bad motor, They are a good bang for the buck but they are not very consistant. Also the props are not very consistant. Try a 13x6.5 prop. 9.6 oz should pull from hover pretty good. I have had several 12 oz planes that would hover with that setup.
Good luck to you.

your prop is to big run a 10x8 or 10x6. im using the 350c c drive with a 10x8 and 3s thunderpower cells 1350mah and it hovers like crazy and pulls out of the hover. and you probly need at least 3 cells.

thanks for the help guys..i tried to get another motor from lhs but no luck (2 week wait ) can the 3s bats be used with the ecs i have ??(15 amp) any one have amp / tach / thrust readings for this (2s) setup?? what are you using to measure thrust ?? i was told the 12/6 gws prop was best for this setup, any other suggestions ?? are the smaller props used only on the 3s setups or different gears ?? how do i know if the ecs is going to full throttle ?? have a good new year....rob m probro 372

I didn't think the 350c motors needed to be retimed. I only retime the old GWS 300 motors - and only about 3-4mm at most - line the red dot up with the crimp on the casing.

I use 3s 1200mah lipos with my GWS 400 esc with no problems. 12 oz plane hovers at a little over 1/2 throttle with the old GWS 300 C gear. I've used both 11x8 and 10x8 prop.

Maybe try a little higher pitched prop or a 3s lipo.
