Default Motor Fried?

Hey guys I'm new to the electrics, and I just finished a 3DX from Foamy Factory.

So heres my story I was running it for about the sixth time but when I brougt it in, the motor smelt like I roasted it. So I was wondering how would you know if you fried your motor?

Heres what I used:

GWS 300-C "D"
Li-Poly 3sp 1200 mAh
GWS ICS-300 speed controller

Could this configration be the reason for frying the motor?

don't wory, you fried the motod. that is to much power for the 300 or 350. buy 8cell cans 720 or 1050 nmhd, or go brushless, himax 2015 4100 with 25 amp speed control pegasus and your li-poly
