Formosa + Himax
Hi guys,
I just finished a formosa. Modified the elevator to look more like that of an CAP 232 for more effective response in 3D manuvers. I installed a 2015-4100 Himax in a GWS 6.6:1 gearbox and a Pheonix 25 ESC. I used 2 Diffrent Lithum Batteries: 1500 Kokam 2s1p and a 1320 E-Tech 3s1p. Both seem to be able to handle the load. They are slightly warm after the flights. Using a 12X6 prop.
I have a few questions now:
How can I measure the amps with a digital amp meter properly?
Is there a diffrent prop I should be using?
Also. Seems that I stripped the black gear on the gearbox. I have not determined if this was due to a loose connection on the gears or possibly the breaking feature on the esc. I will disable the breaking feathre since I don't really need that and install another gear tonight. Has anyone else had this problem? My gear is flat.. litterally!!!!!
But as far as performance:
5 foot roll out. Straight up 50 ft. 3 snaps continuing the up line for an aditional 75 feet or so.. And could keep going out of site if I let her... AWSOME performance and easily 25 minute flights. Excelent rolling harriers. and rolling harrier circles. Have not been able to flat spin yet but only tried 2 times. Knife enge is nice and knife edfe loops and circles are possiable as well.
Thanks in advance guys.

RE: Formosa + Himax
I can answer your gearstripping question. I had the same thing happening and disabling the brake fixed it. But also make sure that your motor is properly supported in your gearbox with o-rings or a spacer because without them the box can flex and the gear can strip
