From: n/a,
Harrierboy, I'm not familliar with the shockies nor the 5400 series motors.
However, my Fancy Foam Cap (pictured below) is powered by a Himax 2015/4100 and a GWS "D" gearbox. Using a Kokam 3cell 1500, my flying weight is at 14oz.
I'm hovering at just under 1/2 throttle with more than plenty of power to seriously yank the heck out of the plane. Great setup!!
If the 5400 motor has more power, then you could prolly gear it down to maybe a "C" gearbox? I dunno? Anyone?...

just so you know:
i motocalc'ed the himax 2015 4100 and 5400 on a 3 cell lipoly. with a 12x6 prop and a D gearbox the 4100 had about 23 oz of thrust and the 5400 had about 26.
