Hey
I have a tribute 3d on order and I can't wait before it gets in! To start I was thinking to use the included motor with a 1320mAh 2 cell 7.4V Lipo and a 20 amp e-flite esc. I'll also use GWS servos and receiver... But later I would like to buy the direct replacement motor (Park 370 brushless) that e-flite make. What speed controller can I use with this motor and can i use the same battery or i have to buy another 1320 mAh 3cell 11.1v?

You can use a Castle Creations Phoniex 10 or the Jeti Advanced witht he Pardk 370. I am going to use the Castle Creations on my production Ultimate.
Horizon had both of these planes on display at SEFF this weekend. I saw both fly and they both looked really great in the air with the stock stickers. The boxes are really nice too. Supposidely they are shipping them out this week!

I just called Horizon and they said that niether the Tribute or the ultimate will be out till August.

Where is your hobby shop getting this model from ???
If this is taking such a long time, I will just buy a shocky.
Get all the high end equipment like AXI 2208-34, Phoenix-10 ESC so that I can swap to the ultimate once it becomes available.
What do you guys think ?

Im new to electrics and i was looking into the ultimate, i think it would be a perfect plane for me to start off with and i really want to get into 3-D. I was just looking on horizons site and it said "Due early August" and ive been waiting for this for a while and saving up for it, i hope it comes out soon and i want to fly soo bad!

Wow this stranged! I email them about a week ago, and they told that they would start shipping late this week! Maybe they told you August because all of them are already presold! (Thats what I think) I order mine about two and a half months ago! I assume they are getting them from Horizon!

I like the fancy foam extra because of the full elevator stab movement. 70 degrees of throw. And the combro price is pretty good. Sure is gonna look nice at the university greens and hallways in the dorms

I've got two of the Ultimates that I just won in the raffles at SEFF last weekend.
According to Horizon they are waiting on the motor systems to be available and that is at least one of the reasons the kits aren't out yet. The kits I received were without the motor packages. They are going to send me the motor systems in about 2 or 3 weeks.
I plan to use a brushless in it anyway. There was a guy selling Himax 2015 4100 motors at SEFF for only $39 so I bought one of those. Also won an E-flite 400 brushless in another SEFF raffle which I might try in an Ultimate, though its probably a little too much motor.

all i want to know how the ultimate compares to a shock flyer performance wise if they are sapose to be 14 oz on a non brushed motor and my shocky weighs 8.3 oz with an axi

Shockflyerkid- They fly better outside then a shockflyer does. And a biplane is always more cool then a monoplane in my opinion.
