Default Shockflyer stuff

Ok my shockflyer comes in today along with my AXI 2208 and Jeti 8 amp speedo. I am going to use HS50's and a Hitec Electron or GWS 6 channel with a ETEC 3s 1200 pack. IS this ok? What do I need to konw while building? Any hints or tips? Whats usual building time on a shocky? Thanks for the help everyone!

follow the directions, dont put the gear on it unless you fly off a smooth surface.

I put a combo like that together yesterday for a buddy, and Mine flies beyond expectations.

I built mine in 8 hours ready to fly. I think I can cut that time in half on the next one.
What are you guys using for repairs? I have been using Probond and clear tape.

3s 1200 cell have rather big weight. I use 2s 1500 Kokam with my scratch built outrunner. Prop: 9x3,8 APC slo fly. Current 12 amp. max. 3D flying time - 10 minutes. Slo fly mode - 25 minutes.

I agree, don't put the landing gear in and save the weight. I use a peice of CF from another kit and install it from the very front of the nose(bottom of fuse) down to the brace that holds the "wing struts". I used Foam safe CA and kicker to install around the sharp bend of the nose. Doing this, the airplane has take some unbelievible abuse, and is still going. Really help protect the nose area which I think is the weakest. Just bring it in under a little power, and it does a very nice nose high landing, not scrathing a thing! Hope this helps...Jim

Falcon,

Do you mean the 1 mm x 3mm carbon stiffeners that normally go in the wing of the shockies? I like your idea a lot. This sounds super for both impact and twisting loads and the curve makes it strong in the other dimension. Tying it to the wing strut brace is also a good idea. One could do the same on the top surface, but there is no logical point to terminate the CF. Maybe at or into the canopy?

I've got some .007 CF laying around that I will use for my next shocky with your idea.

ya - it's fine.

I use the Castle Creation Phoenix 10. Works like a charm!

I needed weight on the tail. 60mm back from the LE is not enough. Go 70mm+.
