I've been flying a lot of different foamies, 3DX, 300 Extra, VTO, etc. But I have been struggling to really hover properly. My LHS told me to prop down from 12x6 on my Himax 2014-4100 (3s1P) to 11x4.7. WOW that makes it a whole lot easier. You get a ton more control and things happen slower. Not to mention the added flight time. I can now do torque rolls and hover pretty well. If you're having trouble, try it out. Once I get it down, I'm sure I'll go back to 12x6 becuase it's so fun to climb like a rocket, but for now it's 11x4.7 for me.

Your right. A lower pitch prop will do wonders for your 3D skills. It's almost like it turns your flight into slow motion. You have more time to react. It's like that with both Electric and glow. If you want speed select a high pitch prop >7. If you want lots of torque and slow flight select a prop with less pitch <5

I found a good way to learn to hover. use a sim. Ive been using AFP and I can hover the Giles and even get it to do a slow torque roll. Before you start I know tht it is not the same as a real plane and all the rest of it bu tstill, I think if you can do it on a sim your half way there, because you know the stick controls and how the plane acts I ceratin aeros.o
Next Im going to try it for real on my .25 3DX
