do you think 2/3A cells would work for this? what about AAA cells? i owuld use the stock motor. i would not be dfoing much extreme 3d flying. i dont want to worry about the lipos and their dangers. thanks!

If your pack would weigh around 3 oz. should be fine.
Don't expect hovering on AAA's, but for just flying around should work. Might have to prop down with them.

2/3a's would be too big, they would weigh too much (I think).

If you use a 6 or 7 cell AAA pack it "should" weigh about ~3 ounces. My 8 cell 5/4 AAA pack weighs like 4 oz's so when you figure up smaller cells and less of them I think it should be around 3 ounces.

As long as your carefull with li-po packs you should be fine, their are many precautions you must take but as long as follow the instructions youll have no problems. You would really benifit from using a li-po pack, for one youll save an ounce, and 2 your performance will increase.

If you read into li-po and their dangers most all of the danger can be prevented if you pay attention to what your doing. When I bought my li-po setup the guy told me about ~5 stories of people having them flame up on them, all of the incedences resulted from improper useage, for example charging too long, charging after the pack was damaged, etc.

Right. Lipos can't be too bad. I and several friends have flown them all last summer and this summer and never had any problem with them yet.

I started using LiPo's about a year ago and now that's all I'll use. If you use a few precautions, they're fine.

The precautions are:

Always use the correct charger, one made for LiPo's (I use an Astroflight 109, charges up to 8A and 9 cells)
Never charge them unattended
Never charge them at more than 1C (1 times their capacity)
If your charger automatically detects the cell count, make sure it detected it correctly
Always make sure you are not dischaging them at a higher current than they're rated for
Never discharge them down too far (I set my low voltage cutoff at about 3V/cell
Preferably use a ESC made for LiPo's (this will include a programmable low voltage cutoff)

If you do this you shoulodn't have a problem. The long flight times you can get with these batteries is worth the extra attention they require.
