Default AXI 2204/54 setup

Hi all just purchased a AXI 2204/54 for my shocky and was wondering what set-ups people are running in regards to prop size and batteries, to run 2 or 3 cells?. I have run it allready on 3 cells with a 9x4.7 but found the motor got a bit hot for my liking. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Brendan
