I was wondering if any one out there hit your self or came close to hitting your self with a foamy or any other plane. I know I was coming in hovering right up to me and dummy me gave it the wrong command and the plane was flying right towards me so I had to get out of the way. Almost like the Matrix when I dodge it. The airplane and I lived though. whewwwww.

You should never fly close to persons, even how small or light the plane is it might cause damage to another person if taken by suprise. Haven´t ama gor rules about where to fly? In Sweden spectators and non flying pilots should be behind the safetyline in a maked area....
However while training 3D I´m usually out alone, when hovering low it happens I get a bump by the plane. [link=http://www.henke.rchomepage.com/video/diablotin8.wmv]vid[/link]

We fly in a gym in the winter so there isn't room for a safety line of any sort. Plus, this guy in our club decided it would be a good venue to teach kids to fly in, so there are sometimes out of control slow-sticks screaming around the place. I had one coming for me last week... some yelled (not the novice pilot, I might add) and I turned around to see it coming at my face. No abort attempt was made. Luckily, I have cat-like reflexes and got my hand into the prop to stop it before it hit me... I swatted the plane down like a fly. It gave me a very small bruise on one finger, but saved my eyes.
I won't turn my back again.

Ive hit myself a few times with the motor running, you can feel it but it doesnt really hurt. As long as you cut the motor as soon as possible it doesnt really matter, I think you'd have a job doing any damage unless you really went for the eyes.
It is fun trying to tail tap your nose!
Im not trying to say its a sencible thing to do but In my opinion its not that dangerous!

Ive hit myself on a low high speed pass with my shockflyer. A wind gust caught it and it ended up hitting me in the thigh with the wing. It didnt really do anything. Crumpled the leading edge a little, but no harm done. I barely felt it.
Just be careful. Im not worried about the plane hitting me, but that swinging plastic razor of death hanging out front is not something I want to play catch with.

Ha! Funny vid. Almost like a Monty Python with the guy chasing after the plane! Always think those videos are strange.

Ive hit myself a few times.. doesnt hurt, once with the prop into my should, another time I centerpunched myself in the back with my shocky full throttle axi2208/34... Just glad nobody else was there to see it, but probably was hilarious!! I like to hover as close as I can to myself. The foamy aint gonna hurt ya.. if you catch the prop in your open eye maybe.. other than that, doubt it. Now my 41%, I stay a little ways away from that baby!

oh I forgot to tell yawl this. One day I was flying my airplane on one side of the field and this airplane comes flying by the field over the runway and crashes on the other side from where I was standing. I heard it hit and I was flying my plane high and then I heard some air pass right by my ear. I landed really quick and look to the left of me and I saw a half of a prop. That guy crashed soooo hard far away from me that half of the prop broke off and almost hit me. I believe if it would have hit me in the face or throat it would have done some serious damage to me. It was inches away from my ear. I was kind of scared that day. [

Sort of, I had my ultimate sitting in front of me while I was messing with the ESC wires, I bumped the throttle and the plane took off WOT into my arm.
The prop made 3 long cuts on my arm.

LOL! Guys trust me a foamy can't do much damage! I think sending your kid to school should strike a nervous vain. You guys ever watch football or rugby? Scary stuff right there. By gosh playing golf is seriously dangerous! You know that guy on the hole next to the one you're playing getting his ball smacked a little off course!
Did you guys know that ten pin bowling was at some stage the world's most dangerous sport? Heart attacks and back injuries you can let your imagination do its job on this one.
I also enjoy hovering really close in and have tapped myself a couple of times before with the shocky. It is dangerous! Make sure you cut power to the motor before you hit yourself and you'll be fine! Make sure that you follow basic modeling rules and always remove any sharp edges from your prop before putting it on there and you'll be fine. And yes like what was said before always wear a pair of glasses or sunglasses when playing with these things. A pair of safety glasses is probably the ticket. I've been struck by a tiny stone while standing on the flightline. A guy cleaning hes motor's throat picked up a stone and flung it at my ear, we all know how sensitive ones ear is. I continued flying of course and someone standing in the pits came over and asked me to come land. It was hilarious after he pointed out that blood was running down my neck LOL. I felt the sting but heck enjoying the flight too much overpowered the slight pain
Here is some more funny shockflyer videos in a hotel room. Please note care was taken not to harm any of the 15innocent bystanders in the room who wouldn't leave when asked. Fortunately for us they were all fellow RC pilots young and old

And here's a vid taken a couple months later at the field. Helps when you're not convined in a small room! Please right click and save as?

it´s not a toy just because it is electric! some of the largest and fastest RC planes are electirc.
you don´t want to grap my 24" prop spinning at 6000rpm...

I have a few cuts from foamies! One had to be super glued shut from Blaine Austin at our event. What happened is i was going to catch it and it got my arm on the way down. Didn't know it was bad till i started flying again and say blood out of the corner of my arm. Since then i've had about 4 more cuts
just can't keep it away from me.

Ditto on the sharp apc props. I was flying a foamy with himax 2025 gws 6.6:1 and apc 1238. At the time I still was not able to hover belly-in, and the new 1238 prop made the foamy torque so hard even full right aileron couldn't keep it from spinning. I gave it full down elevator and full throttle at the same time and flew it into my face.
I ended up in the ER with my top eyelid sliced through right above the eyelash roots. Doc said if I had not shut my eye I might have lost sight in my left eye. To add to the misery, the doctor glued my eye shut while trying to glue my eyelid back together![&o] I had to tear my eye open with tweezers- talk about pain. I couldn't sue though because I work at the hospital and it was off-the-books backdoor treatment. Thats what I get for free medicine!

Does trying to catch a Zagi count? I was trying to catch mine for the first time, misjudged how high and how fast it was. I dove it down to where I could reach it, then realized just how fast it was coming in, and kept my hand up, but sat down/fell back just to get out of it's way. It hit me in the hand, but was too fast to hang on to. Everybody hurt themselves laughing at me.

I had a close call. blender into an inverted elevator than WRONG RUDDER[:@]. i pannicked and gave it full down, full power and full wrong rudder. it wen't over my sholder and down my back. the only injury to me was my ego. the plane cracked in half (on a glue joint) and broke the drive shaft off the motor. By the way does anybody know how long it takes himaxx to fix a motor (been 2 weeks now)?[
