Default Tribute Engine Question

I am getting a Tribute in a trade. My question is, it is coming with a 2 cell 3300 li-po pack, I know with this heavy pack, it will just fly with no 3d. What would be a good brushless motor and speed control that will run off of this battery or do I need to upgrade to a 3 cell in order to hover? Thanks

You'll want to upgrade to a 3-cell, 1250-1500mAh LiPoly pack. It'll be the difference between building a muscle car with a straight-six made from lead and a big-block aluminum V8.

What was the original owner thinking when he chose that pack, I wonder...

The recommended gear, that is, the Park 370-4100 and stock gearbox/prop, makes it a capable 3D machine.

Do you think it will fly with the stock motor and the large 2 cell? The plane is NIB along with servos and RX and the GWS ich 400 speed control with hitech 55's.

I flew my Tribute bone stock with a 2 cell 1500. All I can say is this setup will fly but only as a sport airplane. NO 3D. too heavy.

I switched to a Park 370, 20 amp castle and 3 cell Thunder power 1340 and it brought the machine to life.

Good luck,

Well when I was out today, I picked up the Park 370 5400KV and a Eflight 20amp ESC. Now I just need to wait on my RX crystal to put it together. I will work on it this weekend. But I might have to go get a smaller Lipo, I guess we'll see. Is the stock prop good for this combo or should I upgrade to something else?
