Default 3d buddy battery location

I am putting together ultra-rc edge and would like suggestions on the securing the battery. The 1500mah lipoly needs to be mounted under the wing on the fuselage. I am a little perplexed on how to secure the battery? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks
B. Matt

use velcro...it is excellent for quick swapping of batts. Make sure you use the lipos to set your cg where you want it

you get velcro that has adhesive on both pieces to secure one piece to the fuse, and the other to the batt.

I used the velcro set-up as shown in the instructions; it acts as a safety belt, however I mounted the velcro on the fuse under the wing. I used the 2 stock screws (they have the pan head). I carefully predrilled holes for the screws as far back on the landing gear structure as possible.

I did exactly the same thing as Gbee did and it looks like it will really work well.... I have yet to fly mine, tomorow if the weather holds up well here in Buffalo New York, hey Gbee, how is the balance with the battery there??? also, hows your run times????....I can't wait to try it ....if it was summer I would just go to some parking lot with lights and fly at night

Toyman94,

Mine flies great with the battery under the wing, but I never tried the stock location. Also, I never checked the CG with my GP CG Machine - oops. I went on Brian's recommendation (@ Ultra-RC). I probably have 50 flights (batteries) on mine - lots of airtime. I get 15 - 17 minutes (3D flying) with the Ultra-RC 1500mah 3 cell lipo and 12 - 14 mins. on their 900 mah. I can stretch the time 3 or 4 mins longer if I continue to slow fly when I notice the power reduction, but better to be safe. I use the 900mah (and about 20 degrees of flap with elevator mix) for indoor flying. (I fly in a Sports Dome - 3 indoor soccer fields every Friday). I found the lipos last longer (outside in the cold here in Connecticut) if you put the on-board lipo in a small plastic bag to eliminate airflow through it. I changed to a Todd's gearbox (stock gear ratio) and an APC 10 x 4.7 prop - much more precise and smoother than stock, cause I like precision. Also, I cut the stock gear length in half and use MPI Max 2 inch wheels - very durable and light and good looking. Taxi's well on Astroturf, good for touch & goes, plus the gear protects the battery from a bad landing. The gear can be easily bent back in shape while installed. Good Luck, you'll enjoy. I don't like to fly mine in wind greater than 5 mph - gets to be a real handful for me. It flies so well I bought the 3D Buddy Edge 540 also and it flies the same way. My only complaint is structure twisting. You have to be careful how you transport and store the plane so not to induce any twisting, especially with large ambient temperature changes. I used to heat the film and twist the opposite way, but now I just fly it and trim it out.

I cut and glued a popsickle stick across the balsa formers to have something solid to screw the battery strap into and held the velcro strap in place with the supplied screws. I was using 3D foamy carbon gear but it broke at the joint on a normal landing so I've been flying it without it and it seems to work fine. I had a heck of a time trying to keep the twists out of the fuse until I dumb thumbed it and broke the fuse right behind the wing and after CA'ing it back in place my fuse stays straight now. I've got about 10 flights with a Himax 2015/4100 and a polyquest 1500 3S1p and this thing is a blast. Harrier rolls awesome.
