Also, just so you know, Ive never ordered from him, so this makes me unbiased, as I have no opinion.

But I do want one of those F-15's real bad.

ok im raising a red flag here, all this post is going to do is cause strife, there is no reason for this at all, if you have an oppinion you can voice it, but to make a thread like this is just going to end in bashing or an arguement.

Well put. I'm sure bdavision meant no harm but this seems to be a sensitive subject lately. Personally, I would like to see it deleted.

I've never bought from them and never will. I will never buy a 3-D foamy kit from anyone, so don't think I'm only picking on 3DFOAMY.com. These companies just feed off the laziness that has taken over model aviation. Anyone who would pay between $30. and $50. or more for pennies worth of foam is a fool. It takes less than 15 minutes to cut out the pieces you get in the average 3-D type kit. Cut it out yourself, save some money, and have a better plane in the end. Crash it and you can cut one out and have a replacement the next day.[:@]That's the truth, and I agree that this thread should be closed. It serves no purpose.

I've never bought from them and never will...... It takes less than 15 minutes to cut out the pieces you get in the average 3-D type kit.

The "Pro" version kits from 3D Foamy with G-force wings are not your average 3-D type kits. With all of the lightening holes, laminations, spar slots, etc. you are looking at a much more daunting task to scratch build one. Besides the amount of time involved, duplicating the tolerences of the laser cut kit would be hard to match. However, Levi does offer FREE plans to anyone who wishes to scratch build the designs.

I agree though, this poll is a bad idea........

Wow, ignorance spoken here. ^

You clearly dont know what your talking about, the machines he has to make them, the accessories that come with them.. They are worth every penny, and I 4 of them, and will get more in the future. They are THE BEST.

I did the poll, because I wanted to make a poll so that Mr. 3Dfoamy himself could see just how much he and his stuff was appreciated by all. Apparently some people took it the wrong way.

It will only end badly if you guys make it so. Get off your high horse, and vote.

Instead of putting posts " Your great man, I love your airplanes" spread over hundreds of different posts, where people occasionally might stumble upon them. Voice your opinion here. Its gonna be far easier to read through, and based on previous threads regarding this, hopefully positive.

So far 75% of the voters rate 3Dfoamy as a "10"...so how is this a bad thing?

yes, i would like to see you take a no. 11 x-acto and cut out all the lazer cut holes in a 3d foamy kit with any precision at all.

well said John

bdavision,

did'nt you know when you made this post that it would cause an arguement? If you like his product then tell him that, to start somthing like this just divides the hobby more and more, as i said before nothing good can come of it. Have you ever purchased/built a 3d foamy before? Or were you just bored and were thinking of somthing to do?

Does this mean you guys don't know about RCU's manufacturer ratings section? It is on the RC Community Menu in the main nav.

here is a link to all mfg's

http://www.rcuniverse.com/community/man-lookup.cfm

and to 3dfoamy.com to rate them

http://www.rcuniverse.com/community/...facturerID=441

Be sure to rate all companies who you do business with in there as it helps other members in the future to know your experiences and comments

Ok, look at the thread entitled "3Dfoamy closing up shop"

Now wouldnt it just be simpler to put your vote on a poll. Everyone on there was *&%$in because only the complainers were posting opinions in the other threads and the folks that liked 3Dfoamy were silent.

So I made a poll (after all thats why we have polls) so all you silent folks could raise your voice.

And what happened...ya screwed it up too.
I give up.
Just delete the %&*$ thread.

Well Levi, I understand. Doesnt matter what you do, theres always some people that just dont get it. Keep up the good work. Got to build me one of those F-15 kits ya got. Video is freakin awesome.

GWR going with your opinion we could easily apply that to the balsa kits most of us bought for years before ARF’s got popular. At times we paid $200+ for a little bit of pre-cut balsa wood. We still had to buy everything else required to finish the kit.

Course 3dfoamy.com, Levi, has been kind enough to provide his plans to you free of charge should you prefer to cut your own foam. Sounds like a pretty nice guy to me.

I did vote and like I said, I wasn't complaining about 3DFoamy as I never bought from him and I wont, nor will I buy one from any of the other 3d foamy makers. I'll make my own that fly just as well, for less $$$, and I don't have to wait for replacement parts when needed. About the poll; 3-D Foamy supporters will of coarse vote that they're the best, and unless somebody has had a real bad experience with them, nobody else will bother to vote at all. So of coarse this poll will be heavily in favor of 3-D Foamy. It can't fail.

That in itself is an interesting topic...

Kit or scratch-built?

I scratch-built too, but I also enjoy the kits. It's just so much more convienient and precise to get a kit.

Yeah, it can get expensive, but your paying for a precision-cut ready to assemble kit, hardware, and a manual that someone had to write up. You'll probably spend that much if not more buying all the hardware you need for a foamy.

Ive priced the carbon fiber and control horns you would need to build a shocky just like what it has in the kit. Just the carbon alone would almost justify the cost of the kit. You dont even want to know what the Tensor4D would cost. Just the carbon tube for the landing gear is about $10 bucks, and thats just the tube...no wheels or attachments. Then their is about 12 bucks worth of foam. About 20 bucks worth of carbon reinforcements, plus all the control horns, music wire, wheels, tape, paint, plywood for the motor mount....It easily would cost more than the kit.

Now here's a REAL 3-D foam plane. All blue FF foam, wooden dowel spar, kite string pull/pull, and this thing will do a rolling circle within a wing span of the ground and will "Harrier" straight down from 100+ feet up.

Ill tell you what GWR. I guess Im a fool for buying a precut masterpeice. Well in my opinion, it is foolish to spend the time to cut out the foam pieces to scratch build one. Lets see, by the time I factor in at 15 an hour for labor, which is what our hobby shop charges for building, I can put a 3D foamy together for less. Heck, Factor in 5 bucks for labor, not to mention all the extra stuff and I can still build a ARF cheaper.Oh, and I can cut replacement parts from the spare material, I dont have to buy extra control horns or pushrod or any other extra crap. And this pretty much goes to any foamy from 3DFoamy, Eflite, or Ikarus. Plus on top of that, There is not a person in this forum that can out cut a CNC laser machine. Aint happenin. I take offence to being called a fool because I buy precut foam planes. Basically you are saying I am lazy because I wont scratch build something as opposed to having something easy to put together. BullSH**. Somebody went to alot of trouble making easy to build planes so im damn sure gonna buy them. Ill tell you what. When you get your next house, how bout to frame it up, you sheetrock it, you shingle it you wire it and you plumb it. You will be much happier with it because it is exactly the way you wanted it. Or how bout you buy and engine, fenders, frame, quarter panels, glass and wheels and assemble your own automobile. You do all that, and I get my stuff built, and pay more because Im lazy. Anyway. I understand the poll. I only ordered 2 planes from 3DFoamy. I ordered them, not because of the posts people made here, but because of the information posted on their website. I found the company using a search on the internet. It was a random kind of thing. I saw the planes and thought to myself that they had to be better because the had an airfoil instead of a flat wing. So I ordered them. It said these kits were made to order and that it could take 2 weeks before shipment. 10 days later, Levi called me and told me that my planes would be shipped the next morning. Now I am pretty sure that he randomly decides to give some customers better service than others. That doesnt make any sense. Mostly all I see in this forum is posts bashing 3D Foamy, so why cant we have one that is mostly praising them.

Ok I find this poll to be very bias. I've ordered a 3d foamy before. Yes it did take about 2 weeks to get, but this is very understandable from a Mom and Pop operation. If I wanted something with a 24 hour turn around I'd order from Tower Hobbies. I'd like to see the Citabria have a stronger structure where the wing struts meet the fuse. It's personal preference and I ended up modifying it myself. Personally I've moved away from the 3d foamy planes and I'm designing my own and sending those off to get laser cut.

I agree with above... if you think that thing is the perfect plane, have fun with it, and stop heckling us.

Im sorry, but you dont have anything that flies half as good as a 3df Gforce wing. definatly that thing.

I have a better poll:

Should this thread be closed because nothing useful will come from it?

1. Yes
2. No

By the overwhelming majority response so far, YES wins. This thread has produced nothing but petty bickering and pseudo-bashing, so I'm closing it.

Any other electric mod is free to reopen it if they see fit.
