The B20-18L 4:1 with an APC 11x4.7 is listed as one of Levi's Favorites on 3DFoamy.com presumably on the 40 inchers. . . but it seems like it should be perfect!

Yeah a fly in sounds cool...I would not mind seeing Josh fly in person and learning from him. Brett do you fly out of the Woodland Davis club? I had been to a couple of jet flys there, really nice facility.

Kolar,
Levi told me that my B20-15L's would work sweet, so I'm sure the 18L would work good too. John has flown the plane so if he recommends the 18L, I'd go with it.

The b20-18l and the 15l will be really hot! I like the 12-6 on the 18L and the 11.4.7 on the 15L.
I'm actually modifying the ply that comes with the kit to allow for mounting these motor directly to the existing kit mount with no major mods. It should be pretty sweet. keeps everything right inline at the center thrust line.

That is what they reccomend, but I have been using the 11x4.7 and it really upped the pull out with no noticable loss in throttle response. I flew it on a 10x6 and liked it as well. These were all APC slow fly props.
But honestly, I rarely used full throttle with any of the props... it hovers just under half stick, and stay in the air 5 clicks from idle.

Jeff,
Yes currently I am a member of the Woodland-Davis Aeromodelers based at Mavis-Henson strip. I havent been out there too much though. But for the maiden of my 3DF Raven I took it out there. I have since been looking for better park to fly out of, and with these winds and weather an indoor facility nearby would be very cool! Oh and just to be sure that my self depricating sense of humor isn't taken the wrong way, I should say that I would actually really love to see Josh fly in person!

Just ordered mine really looking forward to it.
Do you reckon the axi 2208-34 and 830 mah lithiums will be ok for indoor 3d with this plane?

My experience with the 2208/34 and the 830 packs makes me think that it should work OK if the weight is kept low (probably no landing gear and minimal paint). . . but it will not be very quick to climb out of botched figures so keep that in mind. I think 20 oz of thrust is about the max you will see out of that powerplant, so if yours ends up at 16 oz it's not going to give you too much punch.

With 3 cells it will be fine, run a 10 x 4.7 if you need more go to an 11 x 4.7 youl pull some amps but the motor can handle it just fine. Good luck you will love it!

The SuperXtra kits were supposed to start shipping yesterday, but the hardware isn't here yet. I've moved the ship day to the 25th (Monday) All the kits are ready with your names on them (for those who pre-ordered) and just waiting the final hardware packages.
Because of RCU rules, I can't start a SuperCAP thread until the 5th of April... but it is all finished and I'm posting the manual and pictures for it this evening. Waiting for some good weather this weekend to get some video of that one. You'll have to check out the page at www.3dfoamy.com for more info on the SuperCAP.... I want to try to keep this thread on topic.

Note to those of you who have SuperXtra or SuperCAP orders placed and are planning on using your Hacker B20-15L or 18L for power.... I've just finished up a new laser cut ply mount that is specifically for that motor and uses the existing airframe technology for a great mount. I'm at the shop now. I'll post the pics of it later tonight.

Levi,
How does the Hacker B20- 15L or 18L compare to the A20-22L. How much thrust do these put out? Also, the Hacker rep recommended the 22L over the 20L. Why would he do that? Thanks for the great planes and help.

The B20-18L is close to the same power as the A20-20L. the 18L will turn a larger prop though. I use a 12x6 on it and its a sooped up hot rod. hovers about 1/3 power.... not as fast of a throttle response though, and its $130 for the motor/gbx (compaired to $69 for the A20)
This is the new Hacker mount designed spacifically for the B20-xxL motors and the new "Super Stiffy" planes that are releasing now....

RE: New 3DF SuperXtra 1.14m -Top Shelf Foamy
these planes loook pretty nice, i'm hopin for a katana next
after some problems buying directly with 3dfoamy, I finally got my old version katana kit, put an A20 w/3 cell 1500 to it, and I really like it, the new alerons get alot of prop wash and the plane is very controllable in a torque roll, I've even had 2 midairs- still emptied the battery after them, and a few bad landings with it, and after some glue its still going strong...
one question for you guys, are all the planes going to be limited production?
