Default foam construction differences?

I see some foam planes are just that, foam and some have reinforced parts with carbon fiber etc. I was about to buy a 3D Buddy Edge 540 but then started looking more into the reinforced foam planes plus cheaper priced.............thoughts on them compared to stick built? I just don't want a wimpy flexable planes thats shot after 30-50 flights with minimal physical "abuse". The Great Planes models look pretty good..............I do outdoor flying, thanks!

i fly the e-flite yak 54f outside in the wind everyday i got this plane because they say the A-Frame design is stronger in wind and there right
doesnt flex like my tribute and receiver, batt , esc all hide inside the fuse
does all 3d manuvers with ease ..and looks more realistic then most foamies

Have a cruise through the plans links on my web site www.nex.net.au/users/rwood scratch building these things is a breeze once you get the hang of it. I have a little Sukoi that is basicaly a bit of 1" thick foam hacked in to a profile with depron control surfaces and a sort of symetrical wing. cover the lot with packing tape and hey presto.

Flies great on one of those BP21 CDR motors and 3cell LiPo.

The new www.3DFoamy.com foamys should be a lot stronger than all others with his composite/depron laminite design. Check it out. I can't wait to get my hands on one. I know what you mean, I've seen many foamies that land and come back in pieces from a tiny tap. Too fragile.
