Default Having another shot at it

hi my name is zeeshan i had aTBM extra 260 foamy and lots of things went wrong . it flew slow and sluggish motor cuts out .
long story, anywho i have decided to give it another go so i bought this motor and speed contorller from ebay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/RC-Electric-Pl...QQcmdZViewItem i was wondering what you guys think of it . how much thrust do you think it produces and will it be enough for a 3D model.
I was havving difficulty picking a model and i would like a wooden/ balsa model but if not a foamy that isnt a profile plane (like the shockies) if you understand .
anyone got any ideas or recomendations
thank you

Your motor looks like it might be this one that BalsaPR sells: http://www.balsapr.com/catalog/motor...ductId=U422859
Maybe they have a plane that fits your needs.

i have the same motor set up you will need to cut the shaft down so you can get a prop adapter on i've been useing a 9x4.7 gws with a 11.1v/1500mah li-poly and it is just balistic on my edge 540 shocky i don't very often get it at full throttle as it just disapears had to strengthen the nose up with some 2mm ply strips as it has twisted the nose off

john19787 did you get yours from ebay iswell.. so do you reccomend a 9x4.7 gws prop with a 11.1 gws 11.1 1500 mah batter setup.
are you sure there is enough power and what connectors did you use to conect the speed controller to the motor.

thanks for replying

best person to speak to about best setup would be (bdavison) if you carn't get hold of this person check this thread out http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_28...tm.htm#2840233 as for connectors i use some thing like the MPJet Brushless Motor Connector Sets in this link
http://www.hobby-lobby.com/connectors.htm i got my lipos and charger through http://www.sussex-model-centre.co.uk/ give them a ring if you are unsure what lipo's and charger would be best they are realy helpful realy know there stuff and they have some real nice kits to check this page out http://www.sussex-model-centre.co.uk...rol-models.htm hope i have been some help it's been a while since iv'e been on here as i am in to traction kite's when it's windy i'm out flying kite's and when it's not to windy i am out fly my foamie. main reason i went with the 11.1v/1500mah was i wanted unlimited power i think they are a little heavy but it is great fun.

As for the ikarus edge 540 they are only 3mm but there are plenty of threads on here that are a lot of help as to reinforceing them a little i have lost an inch in total on the nose of mine but it still fly's fine and if you do loose chunks from the plane just glue it back together ad a little tape and you are back flying within a few minute's this is the whole reason i went down the foam electric route as i don't like to spend a great deal of money and the wife doesn't like me to either LOL

when you have cut your disc out place the motor mount on to the ply disc draw around the motor mount on the back of the motor then mark where the holes are, measure how far from the middle of the hole's to the edge of the mount then drill that distance from the circle that you have drawn on the ply where you have marked. The screws that come with the motor are only just long enough to go through but they do just reach once they snag keep on srewing so they are nice and tight i haven't had any problems with them coming undone. also dont for get to put a hole in the middle of the disc as the shaft need's some room to move. pic's later need some batteries in my camera but i am just of to bed now as i have just finished work

so do you screw the screw in from the back of the plywood and then into the backplate of the motor with the holes init.
