Default Balsa - foamy ?????

Has anyone made any "foamys" out of balsa? I was thinking of giving it a try buy putting a CF rod between 2 thin pieces of balsa wood and gluing the thing together.

Huh? Really? Airplanes made of balsa you say? I figured those stacks of light wood in my garage were caused by the termites eating the middles out of 2x4's!

Sort of..

I just got one of these:
http://www.balsapr.com/catalog/kits/cm.asp

I got a red CM 3D30.

Its an awesome plane, and its balsa construction.

I would say it would qualify as a "woodie" AUW is 15-17oz, which is within foamy weight for some planes.

Quique recently released a "woodie" version of his famous YAK...quite impressive.

Balsa planes look really nice, but if you smack it, its alot more work to put it back together.
