Well after reading alot of posts on the Typhoon, good and bad, I went and bought one. I was really hoping that I would not be one of the 1% of people that would get a p.o.s. Wrong!!! after doing a flight check and checking the ailerons, the right ail. worked good for about 5 seconds then it went full up and sat there and ratcheted. Took it apart and let the servo go free, again no problem for 5 sec then it did it again. As for anyone else looking at these DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY! I will stick to my gas and glow planes.[>:]

Sorry to hear about your bad luck with the Typhoon. Right out of the box I had trouble with mine to. Elevator servo let go on first flight. Managed to get it down but busted the prop. The Horizon service 2nd day air shipped a replacement out and have been flying the &%#$ out of it since then. I still have the stock servos in and I know by doing that I'm tempting the inedible. But I have to tell you the dang thing is such a kick to fly I'll hand over the $40 for new servos gladly. Stick with it, you'll be glad. Joe

One bad servo is hardly a reason to quit electric altogther. One bad servo and your calling it a POS what else is wrong with it. Help us out here please don't tell us you don't like the hardware too ITS A READY TO FLY FOR CRYING OUT LOUD.

I agree completely with polstery, sure seems to be jumping the gun with calling it junk over one servo. I've purchasing bad servos wether they be JR, Hitec and Futaba. So, wether they are in the plane already or in new in the box, it happens.

Please, PLEASE dont let your bad experiences with one cheap RTF kit make you leave electrics.
Dont let one bad kit speak for them all. There are hundreds if not thousands of electric planes out there that do NOT experience those problems out of the box. The Typhoon does NOT speak for the other electric planes.
Since you obviously have experience with nitro planes, I would suggest you look at better electric kits and build one yourself instead of letting some unknown laborer in China build it for you.
If you really want a good flying quality machine you have to build it yourself with quality components.
Get a Rimfire or Axi motor
A nice brushless ESC
4 E-flite S75 servos
and a good lipo, and then slap them in a shockflyer, and find out what electrics are supposed to fly like.

Hmmm there really arnt any good RTF's yet. Unfortunatly the Typhoon (even with its shortcomings) is the only 3D RTF out there right now. So you will have to build something.
Most kits only take about 3-4 hours to build once you have all the stuff.

Hmmm.
Are you flying indoors or outdoors?
Outdoors
E-flite Ultimate, Great Planes Reflection, Great Planes Turmoil
Rimfire brushless motor
8-10A brushless ESC
Thunderpower 3 cell 900mah lipo
Futaba S3108 servos
Bluebird 4ch Rx
Indoors
Ikarus Shockflyer Superstar or Edge 540
Axi 2204/54 brushless motor
10A brushless ESC from balsapr.com
E-flite S75 servos
Thunderpower 2cell 730mah lipo
Bluebird 4ch Rx
These would be my best suggestions assuming you are a fairly experienced pilot.

Actually the outrage is made by Ultrafly I think. It would be a good outdoor choice as well. And it should fly on the stuff above too.
The parts Ive listed Ive actually used and run, and all are reliable and perform the way they should.

Unfortunately, you will get a lot of opinions out there. There are some very good stuff, and some best stuff for the buck. My best of the best is rcxplanes.com "Illusion" and Extra 330L. They go togeather in a night, and are by far the best flyers I have come accross. They are also tough being from 6mm depron. Their combo sale include a Hacker 20-20L with controller in the $180.00 range, almost the cost of the Hacker and contoller, and you get it all, the best of the best. By the way, the shop guarantees their stuff to be as advertised, or your money back!. Do you see that at a lot of places?

One good thing about the parkzone planes though, is that the parts are cheap and easy to get. which is more than i can say about some planes. and when picking a plane, you have to think about what type of flying style you want, because every plane flys differently.

The best flying faomy bar none is the E-Flite QQ yak. I have had many and it flys rock steady. and has tall tough landing gear for those not so pleasant landings. Most of them have wimpy legs and for a noobie thats not a good combo. Not saying you can't fly, they are just different.

How much do you want for your Typhoon? Mine came with a bad Receiver, but it's fine now. 1 day service from HH. It's a blast to fly. How much to take yours off your hands?

Other than the Transmitter antenna falling apart, my Typhoon has held up well. I bought it to have an alternative to fly when my channel was busy. I would not call this plane an "Ultimate 3D" plane, it's more of an agressive sport flyer. Flys a little heavy for serious 3D. Still, I've enjoyed it so far. At least if I have problems I can replace electronic stuff with stuff I have on hand or stuff I can buy from my local shop.

Hey Nighthawk..... I too had a POS Typhoon that was worse than yours!!! Both of my aileron servos had severe jitters and when moved they would cause the rudder and elevator to glitch as well. I was loucky enough to have my LHS exchange both of my wings for a set that really works!! Now i have only made a few short flights with it but I am very affraid of leaving my elevator servo stock after reading many reports of elevator servos failing in flight!!!!! I did contact Horizon and told them about my problem and about all the reports of servo failures in flight. They sent me a response saying....that its the consumers fault and we caused the servos to go bad!!!! NO JOKE. Their tech also said... how many servos have you ever heard of going bad in flight..???. I replied none, till the typhoon was released and i even had problems out of the box. Horizon basically denied any fault to this obvious problem. I challenged this tech's credibility by refering to all the articles, reviews, and reports written by the honest folks on RCU and have not had a reply... .....still waiting to hear back with a remedy Horizon.!!! I guess they think its a mass conspiracy...!! Best of luck to all with the Typhoon, and plan on buying new servos, and a radio while your at it....
