Default Single vs. dual conversion Rx for small 3dE

I am slowly moving over to the electric side of the fence and have a question on receivers.

I'm going to build a Fliton mini Edge and am wondering what receivers are the norm for planes of this size. What's better to use: 4 or 5 channel, and single or dual conversion?

Thanks.

It depends on the interference level in the area that you fly. In my town, single conversion at the low end of the channel range is horrible, and since I'm on channel 11, I stick to dual conversion receivers. The single conversion units are generally lighter and less expensive, so if you can get away with one, go for it.

rmgmag:

Stay with the 6 channel small receivers, the additional weight is very minor and you will frequently need the extra chanels for dual ailerons, including the plane you are looking at. I fly next to two cell towers (100') and will occasionally get a small hit with GWS, JR and Hitec receivers, dosent seem to matter single or dual conversion, and seems is always at full battery charge. Don't know and don't care if there is relationship. The hit is usually a small jump, no lockouts, so I dont worry about it. May worry with a expensive balsa plane, but have sold off all my balsa planes and stay with the rcx line foamys as they simply out fly the balsa stuff with no exceptions I have found, and are way tougher. They don't seem to have the transition jump from a positive angle of attack to negative most flat wing foamys do, exceptional fiyers and quite durable. ENJOY

I agree with bdavidson, stick with hitec electoron 6 or 555 if you have to. what ever you do, stay away from single conversion and anything gws. thats my advise. others may disagree with me, but that my best advise in micro receivers.

I've switched over the FMA M5's for micros.... very small, dual conversion.... never a problem....

the GWS singles are OK...if you fly out in the country, by yourself.......
anything else and they are not so good...

I've got one of FMA's M5 too and it's been flawless. I recently tried one of the new Berg 4 channel receivers, and it's OK as is but works better with one of the Azar antenna's.
