Hey guys,
I have just came back from a flight with my copperaviation extra, with a hacker A20-20L and the hacker motor just doesn't have the power I want anymore. [&o] I have hardly any verticle with it and now I am just disapointed with my power setup... Don't get me wrong I love the airplane but not the motor on the airplane and am wondering if the e-flite 450 outrunner would get me more power that I want? And would it fit on the mount that comes with the extra?
Thanks
LeBlanc

I don't know about the mount, but the Park 450 should give you plenty of power. I'm suprised that the Hacker isn't giving you enough power. What's the rest of you setup?

leblanc,
What's your AUW? The A20-20L Has more than enough pull in all of our demo planes. Also, what ESC and Batteries and prop are you using?

Hey,
I am using a e-flite 20 AMP esc and polly quest 1500mah 3c (20C). Prop is an 11x4.7 and my weight ready to fly is 19.9oz. .1 Lower than the advertised, I used to have the power that I need but then seemed to lost all of the ouph it had in like a flight, i've checked and it's not the battery's and the esc, i've already tried with another one, and it still doesn't have much power...
So maybe a diffective motor or something, but I've got to say this a little in a bad way is that hacker and X esc DO NOT have my bisness anymore, I've bought 2 X-20's from them and both don't work and now the motor doesn't even have the power that I want! Oh well, im staying with AXI motors and castle creation ESC's, they've never had one problem with me, never.
Thanks

I have been using the CC 25 with my setup and it's ballistic. Could there be sonething wrong with the programming of the ESCs you are using. Or, did the motor suffer a crash that could have caused damage? Prolly not likely as usually it just bends the prop shaft and you replace it.
It's just odd because other than the esc we are identical in setups and weight.

Oh something, i've forgotten to say.... When I am running the hacker motor on the ground, it feels like it does all have the power, but when I am flying, it seems like well I can't describe well, but ill do what I can. Let's say I am flying at half throttle the power seems fine... But when I put full power, this is where I get the problem, it's like if it's turning in nothing at all, it slips, sounds like a glow engine about to quit, like having a geared motor with only 2/3 of the gears work?! I don't know if you guys understand? Just ask me if it's not clear I'll try to open it up a little more...
Could it be like a a loose bolt or something somewhere?
Thanks

have you tried a bigger battery?
I use an A20 20 on mine with an 11 x 4.7sf, x20 ESC and TP or Hyperion 2100 mAh ... pulls just fine for me

I've already tried with all of my different batteries, TP 2100 10-12C, kokam 2000 15C and they all have the same power....
I hope the 450 is not going to be deffective or something
Thanks

Has anyone put a in-runner in one of these planes??? I have a Himax 2015 and a 2025, both with gearboxes and i really don't want to purchase a new motor since I already have two sitting around! I am very interested in the extra stiffy but I am really not interested in a new out-runner!

Those motors would fly the extra, but not like the outrunner. I have one on the GP yak-55 the flex one, and it's not all that great with the 2015...and it's only 17oz. If you are going to use one of those motors use the 2025, better luck with that, because mine weighs 19.9oz.
So that's my opinion, will work with the 2025, just not as great with the hacker motor.
Thanks

NOVABILL,
I have just checked my radio, (futaba 9C super) and just figured out that my throttle end point, the top end was at 50%, not 100, and I am wondering if that does make a difference?
Does anybody have this radio and can check it? It was the top one end point throttle 50/100, now i've changed it 100/100 like my other airplanes.
I hope this is going to help
Thanks

That is prolly why you thought your hacker ESC was bad....Whenever setting up an electric on a model memory that was once reserved for a glow plane....ALWAYS CHECK THE THROTTLE ENDPOINTS BEFORE PROCEEDING.....Go fly your stiffy and see if it fixed the problem.
slopenutz
The himax 2025 is the one I would use. I think the easiest way to mount the gearbox will be to purchase a Cobri radial mount adapter for your stick mount gearbox from e-flightline.com and mount the GB sideways. You'll have plenty of power.
Cheers

novabill,
you're right, though I havn't flown the extra yet with the adjustment, i've just checked on my yak-55 from GP and the new esc works, it doesn't loose power when applying ailerons, so thats a problem fixed!! YES!! Now when i'll get a chance to go fly, I hope that changing the top end point from 50 to 120 will make a difference, although I checked without the prop on,(i'm out of props right now
), I noticed the motor turning a little faster, so hopefully that is going to make the whole difference.
I think you guys can tell that I am constantly learning about my radio, it's awsome!
Thanks novabill

Just to let all of you know, Copperhead has a support forum for all of our products as well as Precision Aerobatics products. Tim monitors it and we would love to start seeing posts similar to this in our forum.....

Hey,
I was just about to go out flying and i've got another problem...
. Nothing with the motor or esc, it's my left aileron. When I travel the stick around the servo is fine, but when i put it to neutral, the servo jumps everywhere and makes itself a new center, the new center is completely off and the aileron is at more than 45degrees at neutral. So at first I thought that it was the S75 servo, but then i tried 2 other servos and they did the same thing (hs-55 and hs-56HB). I am wondering was is going on here? It's only that part left servo only. I have it on a Y-harness and the other aileron servo (S75) is doing what it's supposed to be doing.
Hmmm, there is always a problem to fix now isn't there, I am suppecting that it's the Y-harness, or else both servos would be ackting up right? So at my trip to my LHS i'll see if I can get another one.
If you guys have any other ideas of what the problem might be, please help!!
Thanks

Just came back from the LHS, and bought a new Y-harness, and I did put it on the extra. Yup that was the problem, looks like the harness just gave up.

when that happens, its becasue the extension has dirty contacts, get some contact cleaner and that will fix it! it happens a lot when you use servo extensions!

Now just came back from flying... Well again didn't get a chance to fly it because the S75 servo is defective. It moves in cercles on it's own all around just like a motor, it moves 360 degrees all around until I take the power off of it. So now I'm going to have to wait till next weekend to try and fly it again [
] , and this time i'll put an hs-55 on it, now i'm sure that it's going to work.
Man.... there is always something up with model airplanes heh? lol
Thanks

Wow...talk about bad luck....
"Y"'s are the devils work shop... I haven't used on in........ ever
if you have the radio and receiver for it, plug the second into a different channel and set it up that way........
